MyCN - Transfer CN Files to Box from Off-Campus

Caution: As of March 2021, only shares on CN-Share and CN-Home can be accessed on MyCN. Access to SIG shares is not available at this time.

As of March 2020 all OSU employees have been encouraged to work remotely where work responsibilities and duties allow due to the risk and spread of COVID-19. Due to the large increase in remote work many OSU IT systems are being strained. In order to reduce this strain we are encouraging CN users to transfer all non-confidential work data to Box. This can be achieved by accessing MyCN and copying the data.  


Accessing myCN

  1. Browse to

    1. Regular employees will use ONID\onidusername
    2. Student employees will use CN\se-usernam e
  3. All Personal (P:) and Share (S:) drives can be accessed on the left hand side of the screen. Note: Personal Drives are normally labeled Home. 
  4. Click on files and select the Download button to copy to your computer.
    You can chose "Compress and download" to download as a .zip file 
  5. Once files are downloaded it is recommended you transfer them to Box for ease of access.
  6. The use of Box Drive is recommended.

Transferring Personal Drive to Box

  1. Download the content of your Personal Drive by clicking "Download" then "Compress and download". This will download a .zip file to your computer.
  2. Make a new folder in Box
  3. Extract the content of your .zip file to your box file. 

Transferring Share Drive to Box

  1. Anyone can create institutional folders in Box. This can be done by following the "How do I set up an institutional or organizational folder?" section of the Box FAQ.
  2. Once the folder has been set up, chose your Share Drive in MyCN and download the content by clicking "Download" then "Compress and download". This will download a .zip file to your computer. Note: This file may be very large. Please call the IS Service Desk (541-737-8787) to assist. 
  3. Extract the content of your .zip file to your institutional Box folder.
