- How do I turn off a participant's video?
- Can I disable someone's video that is in my meeting?
Environment
- Oregon State University
- Faculty/Staff
- Students
- Zoom Host
- Zoom User
Cause/Explanation
As the host in a meeting, you can manage the participants. By default, any participant in a meeting can share their video, screen, and audio. We have different articles on muting all participants and disabling the ability to unmute themselves, as well as steps for limiting the screen-share option to only the host. This article will cover how-to stop a participant's video and disable them from re-starting it.
Detailed information on managing participants in a meeting can be found in this article: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005759423-Managing-participants-in-a-meeting
Resolution
Method 1 - Stop/Disable a Participant's Video in a Meeting
- Click Participants from the bottom of the screen
- The participant window/panel will appear with a list of participants
- Place your mouse over the participant you would like to stop video for and click "More"
- From the dropdown menu, select "Stop Video"
Note: You must complete this step for each participant in which you'd like to stop their video.
- The participant's video will now be stopped and unable to re-start unless you repeat these steps and click "Ask to Start Video"
