DocuSign - Confidential User Can't Sign In

Issue/Question

  • When trying to login to DocuSign, I get the message "the response assertion is missing a required attribute".
  • I am marked as confidential in OSU's systems and cannot sign into DocuSign.
  • User marked as "Name Withheld" cannot sign into DocuSign.

Cause/Explanation

DocuSign keys off of a user's name in addition to their email address. Confidential users have opted not to list a name in OSU's systems, in order to protect their privacy. When the automatic account creation is performed by DocuSign, an error occurs because it is unable to pass a name to DocuSign.

Work-Around

DocuSign senders should send the document to a non-OSU email address for the confidential user until this issue is resolved. Alternatively, a non-electronic process could be used to sign the document.

If a student no longer wishes to be marked as confidential, they should contact the Registrar's office.
