Using Ecosia without Addons

  1. On your favored browser, go to
  2. Enter your search into the search bar in the center of the screen.
  3. Access any links, videos, images, or other resources that you would like.

Using Ecosia as an Addon

  1. On your favored browser, go to
  2. Press the button 'Add Ecosia to Firefox/Chrome/Microsoft Edge'.
    • Note:  If you are using Internet Explorer, you will need to use Ecosia without Addons, as it does not appear to support Internet Explorer right now.
  3. A page will open with information about the Ecosia Addon.  In the top right-hand corner, press 'Add to Firefox/Chrome/Edge'.
  4. After Ecosia has been added as an addon, you can search by entering your searches in the URL Bar at the top of  your browser.

Uninstalling the Ecosia Addon

  1. Open the browser that you installed Ecosia on as an addon.
  2. Right-click the Ecosia icon in the top right-hand corner of your browser.
  3. Select 'Remove from Firefox/Chrome/Microsoft Edge.'
  4. A survey page will appear, this survey is optional.  At this point, you can close your browser tab, and Ecosia will be removed.
    • Once Ecosia is removed, your default search engine should reactivate.
