Gmail - Add ONID Gmail Account to Outlook

• How do I add my ONID Gmail account to the Outlook desktop client?

Cause/Explanation

While it is recommended to use Gmail for accessing the OSU Gmail mailbox, some users with only ONID Gmail accounts prefer to use Outlook as their email client.

Resolution

Method

1. In Outlook go to File>Add Account
2. Put in your ONID email account, then click 'Advanced Options' and check 'Let me set up my account manually'
3. Click 'Connect'
4. Click 'Google' and put in your ONID password
   
5. Click 'Cancel' on the little window that shows up. This will cause the account adding window to say 'Something went wrong'
   
6. Click 'Change Account Settings'
   
7. Set the 'Incoming mail' server address to 'imap.gmail.com' and the 'Outgoing mail' server address to 'smtp.gmail.com'
8. Click 'Next', then 'Connect'
9. You should get a message saying 'Account successfully added'. Uncheck 'Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone, too' and click 'Done'
