Adobe Acrobat - Install Acrobat 2020 on a Mac

Issue/Question

  • How do I install Adobe Acrobat on my OSU-managed Mac?

Environment

  • Oregon State University
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • OSU-managed computer
  • Mac

Resolution

Method 1: Use Self Service

Note: this method will only work for Macs supported by Community Network.

  1. Please close all Adobe applications before starting installation
  2. Launch the app "Self Service"
  3. Login with your ONID username and password
  4. Select the following: "CN - Install Acrobat Pro 2020"
  5. Click "Install"
  6. You may see some errors during installation but they can safely be ignored.

Method 2: Run Installer from SharePoint

  1. Please close all Adobe applications before starting installation
  2. Open a web browser and go to: Software Distribution - Adobe Acrobat - All Documents
  3. Login as username@oregonstate.edu if prompted
    • Note: all current OSU employees should be able to access the Software Distribution SharePoint site
  4. Select "Mac - Adobe DC Continuous Serialized"
  5. Select "Mac - Acrobat Pro 2020 serialized"
  6. Select the bubble next to "Acrobat 2020 - Updates Enabled - 12-3-20.pkg" and choose "Download"
  7. Run the pkg file to install Acrobat

Method 3: Run Installer from Software Share

This method requires the computer to be on-campus or connected to the OSU VPN.

  1. Please close all Adobe applications before starting installation
  2. Connect to the OSU VPN if not on-campus.
  3. From the Finder, select Go, Connect to Server
  4. In the Server Address, enter: smb://software.oregonstate.edu
  5. Click Connect
  6. Enter your ONID username and password when prompted
  7. Browse to: Software, Adobe Acrobat, Mac - Adobe Pro 2020 serialized
  8. Download the file "Acrobat 2020 - Updates Enabled - 12-3-20.pkg" and run it to start the installer

Method 4: Use JAMF

The following steps should work for computers managed by Community Network. 

These steps require local administrator privileges.

  1. Please close all Adobe applications before starting installation
  2. Open the Terminal app
  3. Enter the following command: 
    sudo jamf policy -event installacro2020

Note: the installer may show several error messages, but they can be ignored.
