OSU Gmail - Send with First.Last Address

Caution: Starting November 1, 2022, all new ONID accounts - including students - will be created with Exchange email and not Gmail.

  • How do I send "from" my first.last email address using Gmail?

  • Oregon State University
  • Gmail
  • Employees with a first.last@oregonstate.edu email address (associated with an Exchange mailbox)

If you have a first.last@oregonstate.edu email address attached to an Exchange account, but use OSU Gmail to read your mail, you can still send "from" your first.last address.

Note: this is an unusual configuration. Most OSU employees have an Exchange mailbox and it generally works best to read mail there. Access to Exchange email via the web is available at exchange.oregonstate.edu. If you use Gmail only, most OSU employees will not be able to see your calendar free/busy information.

  1. Visit https://is.oregonstate.edu/google and select Gmail
  2. Login with your ONID username at the OSU login screen
  3. In Gmail, select the Settings icon (looks like a gear) in the upper right
  4. Select "See all settings"
  5. Select the "Accounts" tab
  6. Select "add another email address"
  7. Enter your first.last@oregonstate.edu address in the Email address field
  8. Make sure "Treat as an alias" is selected
  9. Click "Next Step"
  10. On the Accounts screen, select "make default"

Now when you send email it will appear from your first.last@oregonstate.edu address.
