MS Teams - Chats Stop Working When Switching Between Accounts

Issue/Question

  • When using the Teams desktop client and switching between different Teams organizations/accounts, the client stops receiving chat updates. The issue appears to only affect the Teams desktop client.

Environment

  • Oregon State University
  • Microsoft Teams

Explanation

This appears to be a bug in the Teams desktop client. There is no known fix yet.

Work-Around

Method 1

Sign out of Teams and sign back in. 

Method 2

Use the Teams desktop app for one account, and the Teams web client for the other account.
