MS Bookings - Remove or Disable a Bookings Calendar

• How do I remove a Bookings calendar?

Explanation

Although anyone can create a Bookings calendar, only an Office 365 administrator can remove one. There is no recovery option for a deleted Bookings calendar. Disabling a Bookings calendar is another option.

Resolution

Disable a Bookings Calendar Service

You can disable the service associated with a Bookings calendar to prevent people making new bookings.

1. Login to Bookings at https://is.oregonstate.edu/bookings
2. Open the Bookings calendar you want to disable
3. If you are not already in the new Bookings view, toggle the option near the top of the screen to "Try the new bookings"
4. Select Settings->Services on the left
5. Edit the Service
6. Under Publishing Options, disable the option to "Show this service on the booking page"
7. Save changes
8. Confirm your changes are saved by visiting the Booking page; it should say "We aren't offering services through the booking page right now. Please contact us directly or check back here later."

Disable a Booking Page

1. Login to Bookings at https://is.oregonstate.edu/bookings
2. Open the Bookings calendar you want to disable
3. If you are not already in the new Bookings view, toggle the option near the top of the screen to "Try the new bookings"
4. Select Settings->Booking Page on the left
5. Under "Configure booking page" select "No self-service"
6. Save changes
7. The previous link to the Booking page will now return a "Bad Request" error

Delete or Hide a Bookings Calendar

Deleting a Bookings calendar is not recommended. We have seen issues where deleting a Bookings calendar caused the calendar owner to be unable to manage any Bookings calendars.

However, the mailbox for the Bookings calendar can be hidden from the Exchange directory. Note that when the Bookings calendar is hidden, new Bookings admins will not be able to find it to add it in Bookings. Also, this WILL break some functionality of the Bookings calendar.  Bookings Calendars should only be hidden if the intent is to not use it.  If the calendar is to be brought back into service later, you will need to ask to have the calendar unhidden.

An Exchange administrator can hide the mailbox with this PowerShell command: 

Set-Mailbox -Identity address@oregonstateuniversity.onmicrosoft.com -HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled $true
