Duo - "Software Update Required" or "Authentication Restricted"

Issue/Question

• I received an email informing me that I must update the Duo Mobile app by November 15, 2023.
• When I try to sign in with the Duo mobile app I receive the error "Software update required" or "Authentication restricted: Please update to the latest version of Duo Mobile."

Explanation

The version of the Duo Mobile app needs to be updated to version 4.17 or higher.

Resolution

To update the Duo Mobile app, please visit the app store for your device and apply the latest available update:

• Duo Mobile for iOS
• Duo Mobile for Android

You may also need to update the operating system version of your device:

We recommend that you enable automatic updates for your device operating system and apps. There are serious security vulnerabilities if you are not running the latest release of Android or iOS:
