Artemis and Mauve Installation Process

Issue/Question

• How do I download Artemis?
• Artemis isn't working.  Why not?
• How can I get Artemis to work?
• How do I download Mauve?
• Why isn't my Mauve working with Artemis?
• I'm  getting a Java error when I open Mauve/Artemis.

Environment

• Oregon State University
• Windows
• Artemis Genome
• Mauve Genome

Resolution

Artemis

1. Download AdoptOpenJDK on the device.  This can be obtained at https://adoptopenjdk.net/
2. Download Artemis from http://sanger-pathogens.github.io/Artemis/Artemis/
3. Follow the steps given on the GitHub page to download Artemis.

When the customer tries to run Artemis, it will need to be run with AdoptOpenJDK if Java is set to the default .jar file opener.

Mauve

1. Download the most recent version of Java Runtime Environment, which can be found at https://www.java.com/en/download/.
2. If you have it, uninstall the Java Development Kit.  Mauve will not run with the Java Development Kit. 
3. Download Mauve at http://darlinglab.org/mauve/download.html.
4. Follow the installation steps that Mauve provides.

When the customer tries to run Artemis, it will need to be run with Java if AdopOpenJDK is set to the default .jar file opener.
