Lecture capture did not record my screen

Lecture capture systems will not properly record content from MacOS and iOS devices such as Macbooks and iPads.

  • How can I record my content in the classroom from my Apple device?

Copyright restrictions (HDCP) on Apple devices prevent the recording of content from these devices. When using an Apple device – such as a Macbook or iPad – during lecture capture, the system will likely produce a recording with no video and/or audio.

In order to avoid this issue, the presenter should consider using a Windows computer, either the one installed in the classroom, or a Windows-based laptop of their choosing.

Note: Regardless of whether you are using a Mac or Windows device, when playing back copyrighted content from a streaming service (i.e. YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, etc.), copyright restrictions on the device will prevent the recording of this content.
