Issue/Question
- When using Zoom, the sound is too quiet in other applications
- When using the Avaya One-X soft phone, the sound is too quiet in other applications

Cause/Explanation
By Default, Windows Communication settings reduces the volume of all other background applications by 80% when using communication software such as Zoom.
Resolution
- Open Control Panel
- Select "Sound"
- Click on the Communications tab
- Here you will see all of the available options, to make it so that Zoom does not reduce background applications sound, select "Do nothing" or you can change the background noise reduction from 80% to 50% to make it more manageable.
- Click Apply.
- You may need to restart Zoom or whatever Communications software you are using in order to see these changes go into effect.
