MS Bookings - How To Stop Receiving Duplicate Email Notifications

Body

Issue/Question

  • Why am I getting duplicate email notifications from Bookings?
  • I am getting so many emails from Bookings! How do I make it stop?

Environment

  • Oregon State University
  • OSU Employee
  • MS Bookings

Cause/Explanation

When someone creates or edits an appointment in Bookings, the person who the appointment is with can receive email updates.

There are a few places in Bookings to turn on/off email notifications. If there are multiple notification settings turned on, this can result in duplicate email notifications.

If someone doesn't want to receive any emails from Bookings, that is also an option.

Resolution

Method 1; I'm getting 2 email notifications for every change

  1. From the MS Bookings webpage, select the "Booking Page" tab on the left-side menu
  2. Scroll to the "Email notifications" section and make sure that "Notify the business via email when a booking is created or changed" is not checked
    1. Then, check that all of the services under the "Services" tab are using the default scheduling policy, OR edit any that are not using the default scheduling policy to also have the "Notify the business via email when a booking is created or changed" not checked
  3. Click "Save and publish"
  4. Test the change by booking an appointment, wait to receive the confirmation email(s), then cancel the appointment from within the Bookings webapp

Method 2; If method 1 didn't fix the issue and/or if another email address is receiving email notifications

  1. From the MS Bookings webpage, select the "Business Information" tab on the left-side menu
  2. Delete the email in the "Send customer replies to" field
  3. Click "Save"
  4. Test the change by booking an appointment, wait to receive the confirmation email(s), then cancel the appointment from within the Bookings webapp

Method 3; I don't want any email notifications

  1. From the MS Bookings webpage, select the "Staff" tab on the left-side menu
  2. Click on the staff person's name to open manage their settings
  3. Scroll to the "Email notifications" section and uncheck the "Notify the staff via email when a booking assigned to them is created or changed
  4. Click "Save"
  5. Test the change by booking an appointment, wait to receive the confirmation email(s), then cancel the appointment from within the Bookings webapp
