How do I configure Outlook to work with my Retiree Email?
Environment
Resolution
- Open Outlook.
- Click on File -> Add Account to open the Add Account window.
- Select Manual setup or additional server types.
- Select POP or IMAP email account.
- Under the User Information section, enter the following information:
Your Name: Self-explanatory
Email Address: user@retiree.oregonstate.edu (replacing 'user' with your username)
- Under the Server Information section, enter the following information:
Account type: IMAP
Incoming mail server: outlook.office365.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.office365.com
- Under the Logon Information section, enter the following information:
User Name: user@oregonstate.edu
Password: Your retiree email password (ONID password)
- Your settings should look like this once you're done.
- Click on More Settings... in the lower right-hand corner.
- Under the Outgoing Server tab, check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication..
- In the Advanced tab, under the Server Port Numbers section, make sure the information is as follows:
Incoming server (IMAP): 993 / Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
Outgoing server (SMTP): 587 / Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS
- Click OK on all the currently opened dialog windows to close them. Your account should now be added to Outlook!
