Student Subaccount and Training

Body

Issue/Question

  • I am a student, how do I find my training in Bridge?

Environment

  • Bridge root account (for employees including student employees and GAs)
  • Bridge student subaccount (for all students including student employees and GAs)

Cause/Explanation

Currently, there are 2 Bridge instances and some students may get confused regarding where they should go to take the training:

1) One Bridge instance is the Bridge root account https://oregonstate.bridgeapp.com/learner/courses  It is for the employee groups of faculty, staff, temporary staff, student employees, GAs, postdoc scholars, and clinical fellows. All users in these groups are assigned to the Critical Training programs, which are located under the "My Learning" tab. There are also some other training programs available in the learning library for everyone to self-enroll.

2) The other Bridge instance is the Bridge student subaccount https://students-oregonstate.bridgeapp.com/learner/courses. It is for all active students, including all GAs, student employees and non-employee students. Users in this instance of Bridge will be able to browse courses/programs in the learning library to opt-in to courses/programs they want to take.

Sometimes, some students may get confused about which Bridge site they should be going to to take the training, especially if they are in the GA and student employee group, where there is an overlap of the roles they play at OSU.

Resolution

Method 1

Make sure the students understand the nature of the training and the requirement. For example, If a student is taking a Chemistry class and he needs to take the lab safety training program, then he needs to go to the student subaccount to take the training. If a staff member who is going to work in a chemistry lab and needs to take the training, then she needs to go to the root account.

Method 2

If a student is really confused and not sure how to interpret the requirment, it is always a good idea to ask the person who notified him/her about the training. It maybe an instructor, or a supervisor, or someone in student services, or someone in the training offering unit.

Method 3

If none of the above can work, then the student can email Bridge@oregonstate.edu to ask.
