License Renewal

If JMP is already installed and just needs a new license, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to \\\software\JMP in File Explorer for Windows or smb:// in Finder for Mac.
NOTE: If off campus, make sure to connect to the VPN before proceeding.

  2. Find the folder labeled [Year] JMP Licenses.
  3. Copy the license file for the installed version of JMP.
  4. Open JMP and select help -> renew license.
NOTE: On Windows machines, you may need to run JMP as an administrator by right clicking on JMP and selecting "Run as Administrator".
  5. Open the copied license file.
  6. Leave the admin name and department fields blank.
NOTE: If the "Renew License" option is grayed out, you can open the new license window by going to File->New->Script, and then entering Renew License(); and enter.

If license file is being prompted for multiple times, or license is not being saved/accepted, try the following:

Go to C:\Program Files\SAS\JMPPRO\<version> and check for the JMP.per license file.  Rename this file to JMP.per.old

Open JMP and proceed with license.txt file to generate new JMP.per file, save to same directory as old JMP.per file.  (now JMP.per.old)

If this does not work, save to Desktop and then move to the program directory. (may need admin credentials)

Opening JMP in the future should now see a valid license file and not prompt again.
