License Restrictions
Available for OSU faculty, staff and students on institutional devices or computers for use in education and non-commercial research. A student install license is avaialble for installation on personal devices.
Resolution
If installing from off campus, make sure to connect to the VPN before proceeding.
Student Install
- Open Windows file explorer and enter \\software.oregonstate.edu\software into the address bar.
- If prompted for a username and password, enter "ONID\[Your ONID Username]" for the username and your ONID password for the password.
- Find the LabView Student folder.
- Find the desired version (usually latest).
- Copy either the 32 or 64 bit version to your computer.
- Make note of the student install serial number.
- Run the exe to start the installation.
- Select any needed addons when prompted.
- When the installation is finished, it should prompt to activate.
- Select "enter a serial number" from the dropdown and enter the student serial number in all of the boxes.
NOTE: Not all of the extensions are covered by the student install option. If any come back as not being a valid serial number, those are not included.
Staff/Faculty
Windows
- Open Windows file explorer and enter \\software.oregonstate.edu\software into the address bar.
- If prompted for a username and password, enter "ONID\[Your ONID Username]" for the username and your ONID password for the password.
- Find the LabVIEW Folder for university owned devices, and LabView Student for Student owned devices.
- Find the desired version and copy the Windows folder to the desktop.
- Make note of the LabVIEW Serial Number in the text document.
NOTE: There are 2 serial numbers in the LabVIEW Serial Numbers.txt folder. Use the corresponding number for teaching or research use. Student install option will have it's own code.
- Run Install.exe.
- Read and accept the license and click next.
- This may prompt to disable fast startup. This might require coordination with your IT group to disable.
- Review the selected options and click next.
- Select the desired products and click next.
- Do this again on the next page.
- Read and accept the licenses and click next.
- Review the install and click next.
- Click yes on the NI Update Service.
- Select an option when prompted to participate in the Customer Experience Improvement Program.
- The NI Licensing Wizard should open.
- Register for an account if you don't have one already.
- Enter the serial number noted earlier and click activate.
- Click next, then close.
MacOS
- Open Finder and select "Go -> Connect to Server".
- Enter "smb://software.oregonstate.edu/software" and click "Connect".
- If prompted for a login, enter "ONID\[Your ONID Username]" for the usernname and your ONID password for the password.
- Find the LabVIEW folder and the desired version.
- Copy the folder to the desktop.
- Double click on LabVIEW.dmg.
- Double click on LabVIEW Pro in the top left corner.
- Step through the installer and read and accept the license agreement.
- Change the install directory if needed (usually fine to leave this at the default) and click install.
- Once finished, LabVIEW should already be activated.
