Login to VPN before Windows (Windows 10)

  • How do I login to the OSU VPN before the Windows login?

  • ONID account (for VPN)
  • Windows 10

Set up the VPN to connect before Windows login, so that you can login to a domain account.

Note: these steps assume you have a way to login to the computer already, either with a cached username and password, or a local username and password. If you login to the computer while on the OSU network, and then are able to login later when not connected to OSU's network, you are using cached credentials.

  1. Authenticate with cached domain credentials or a local administrator account.
  2. Run the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
  3. Login to the VPN
  4. Click on the gear icon for settings
  5. Select the Preferences tab
  6. Put a check mark next to "Start VPN before user logon to computer"
  7. Close the Anyconnect client and log out of Windows
  8. At the Windows login screen, click the "Network Sign-in" button in the lower-right corner
  9. Sign into the VPN
  10. Sign into Windows with your network account
