ONID - Using Your ONID Account

The ONID account is the primary account used by all OSU students, employees and associates to log in to most OSU-provided services.

Activating Your ONID

Once you have an OSU ID, visit http://onid.oregonstate.edu/ to activate your ONID. If you need help with the setup process, see: ONID Activation Instructions.

At the end of the activation process, your ONID Username is displayed on the screen and sent to your OSU email address.

If you didn't set your account recovery phone and email during the ONID activation process, please take a few minutes to do it now as it helps us secure your account. See: ONID - Update Your Account Recovery Info

How is my ONID generated?

ONID usernames are generally composed of the last name followed by the first letter of your first name, though the formula varies depending on the length of your name and how common your name is.

How do I access my ONID Home Drive?

All ONID accounts are provisioned with 2GB of storage on an OSU-provided network drive. For information, see: ONID Drive Information

How do I access the ONID Shell?

Use an SSH client (such as Putty) to connect to shell.onid.oregonstate.edu. Login with your ONID username and password.
