Issue/Question
- When installing SAS 9.4, I received the message: "A problem was encountered while installing Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1"

- Oregon State University
- Windows 10 LTSB 1507
- SAS 9.4
Cause/Explanation
Windows 10 LTSB 1507 supports up to .NET Framework 4.6.2: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/get-started/system-requirements
SAS 9.4 supports .NET framework 4.5 or later: https://support.sas.com/documentation/installcenter/en/ikfdtnwx6sr/66390/PDF/default/sreq.pdf
However, the SAS 9.4 installer comes with a .NET Framework 4.7 installer, which does not work on Windows 10 LTSB 1507.
Resolution
Make sure .NET Framework 4.5 or 4.6 is installed: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653
During the SAS install, when it says "Would you like to continue with the remaining installs" select "Yes".
If the above doesn't work, reinstall Windows with a newer version that supports .NET Framework 4.7 and above (See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/get-started/system-requirements).
