Issue/Question
- Why do I get an e-mail notification with the following message when I email someone from Outlook?
- "You have contacted notify@teamdynamixapp.com.
Please note that this address is *not* monitored. You may need to send your original message to a different recipient."
Environment
- Oregon State University
- TeamDynamix
- Outlook
Cause/Explanation
TeamDynamix sends emails from "notify@teamdynamixapp.com", but lists the person that sent the message. For example - Lucas Friedrichsen <notify@teamdynamixapp.com>. Email clients like Microsoft Outlook will often add new email addresses to an "Auto-complete" list so you can type a name in the "To", "CC" or "BCC" fields quickly.
The problem is that email will NOT reach the person you are intending to reach.
Resolution
Method 1 - Resend the notification, delete the "Auto-complete entry"
When you notice those those "quick contacts", or receive an e-mail message from TeamDynamix that something was not delivered, there is a multiple step process to perform.
- Resend the email or calendar invite to the person and their correct e-mail address.
- Remove the "Auto-complete entry" in Microsoft Outlook
- Open Microsoft Outlook
- Create a new email message
- Type the person's name
- Hover over the entry
- Click the "X" on the entry to delete the "auto-complete" entry
Information from Microsoft about this process
"Once a recipient name is removed, it won't appear again in the Auto-Complete List unless you deliberately select it from your Contacts list or type the address in manually. These actions will add the address to the Auto-Complete List again. If you want to permanently remove a recipient from your Contacts list, see delete a contact."
