ESET Anti-virus for Mac - "Your computer is not protected" Error

Issue/Question

  • After upgrading to macOS Big Sur, ESET anti-virus displays this error message: "Your computer is not protected: System extension required for Web and Email Protection was not started because of error. Try to restart macOS or reinstall the product."  

Environment

  • Oregon State University
  • MacOS Big Sur
  • ESET anti-virus

Resolution

Install with Web and Email Protection Enabled

When installing ESET, make sure to enable the web and email protection options.
