VPN - authentication failed due to problem navigating to the single sign-on url

Issue

Cisco Anyconnect VPN gives the error "authentication failed due to problem navigating to the single sign-on url" before login, when trying to connect to vpn.oregonstate.edu

Reason

McAfee's firewall is blocking the VPN connection

Solution

1. Find firewall settings in the McAfee app
   1. If Firewall is listed as one of the categories when you open the app click on it and move on to step 2, otherwise use the following steps.
      1. Right click McAfee icon in the system tray.
      2. Hover over change settings.
      3. Click on firewall
2. Click on Internet Connection for Programs
3. Scroll down the list of applications and repeat the following steps for each entry that says Cisco Anyconnect VPN
   1. Click on the application name
   2. scroll down and click on edit.
   3. select allow "connection to all devices" from the dropdown
   4. Under Net Guard select OFF
4. Restart the VPN
5. You should be able to login and connect to the VPN.
