Finding your Network Drive path (Windows)

Explanation:

This article describes how you can find the full path to any network share drive folder that you are currently using. This information is useful when you need to request assistance with a network shared drive.

Requirements:

  • Be on a Windows computer
  • Have a network drive currently mapped
  • Have Notepad (or any other program) open to paste information into

Steps:

  1. Open your share drive in File Explorer
  2. Navigate to the folder in question
  3. Click on the white space on the right side of the folder path (located at the top of your File Explorer window)

     
  4. Copy this information and paste it into Notepad
    Take note of the network path letter at the front of this path (In this example, S:)

     
  5. Press the Windows key + R at the same time
  6. Type "cmd" into the Run box and press OK


     
  7. Type "net use S:" into the command line and press enter.
    "S:" should be replaced with your network path letter from earlier.


     
  8. Copy the remote name and paste it into Notepad

This information can be given to the Service Desk, or whoever else needed the information, to determine the full network shared path.
