Banner - Banner 9 Forms Freezing

Issue/Question

  • Banner 9 forms freezing.

Explanation

This is due to a known issue that has been acknowledged by the vendor and will likely be addressed in an upcoming release.

Resolution

When using Banner 9,  take note of the following to avoid these known problems:

  •  Quickflows may now be used if launched from GUAQFLW. Problems with other uses of QuickFlows are likely to be resolved in future releases.
  •  Avoid entering data too quickly (faster than the form can receive/display it).
  •  If a form hangs, do not refresh your window. Sign out of Banner to release any lingering data locks and log back in again.
  •  If it is taking a long time for a form to respond, and you see a "spinning wheel", it can take up to 5 minutes for it to complete. Please wait for it to complete.

Users are encouraged to report form freezing issues to ACT_Support@lists.oregonstate.edu. This will allow us the opportunity to uncover the potential root cause.  As always, be sure to check the Banner v9 Survival Guide for the latest recommendations.
