Maple - Install/Licensing

License Restrictions

Available for OSU faculty, staff and students on institutional devices or computers for use in education and non-commercial research.

Available for OSU faculty and staff on personally-owned devices or computers for use in education and non-commercial research.

Available for OSU student purchase for use on personally-owned devices and computers: MapleSoft Web Store.

Resolution

If installing from off campus, make sure to connect to the VPN before proceeding.

Windows

  1. Navigate to \\software.oregonstate.edu\software\Maple in Windows File Explorer.
  2. Double click on the Windows folder and find the desired version of Maple.
  3. Copy the folder to the desktop.
  4. Run the 64 bit installer (unless 32 bit is needed).
  5. Read and accept the license agreement.
  6. Select an install directory (usually fine to leave this at the default).
  7. Select if a desktop shortcut should be created, then click next.
  8. If MATLAB is installed, the installer will prompt if it should connect to MATLAB. Select MATLAB Configuration if that functionality is desired.
  9. Select Single User License and click next.
  10. Select update options (usually fine to leave these at the default).
  11. Review install options and click next.
  12. Any available updates will download and install once the installer finishes.
  13. Make sure the box for "Activate Maple now" is checked and click finish.
  14. Enter the code from the text document and click next.
  15. Fill in the boxes with the requested information and click next.
  16. A popup box should appear stating the activation was successful.

MacOS

  1. Open Finder and select "Go -> Connect to Server".
  2. Enter "smb://software.oregonstate.edu/software" and click "Connect".
  3. If prompted for a login, enter "ONID\[Your ONID Username]" for the usernname and your ONID password for the password.
  4. Find the Maple folder and the desired version.
  5. Double click on the Maple Mac.dmg.
  6. This will open a new window - double click on Maple.MacInstaller.
  7. Read and accept the license agreement.
  8. Click next.
  9. If MATLAB is installed, Maple will prompt to connect with MATLAB. Select MATLAB configuration if desired and click next.
  10. Select single user license and click next.
  11. Configure update options (usually fine to leave these at defaults).
  12. This will check and install any available updates.
  13. Review the install options and click next.
  14. Make sure the box for Activate Maple is checked and click finish.
  15. Enter the activation code from the text file and click next.
  16. Fill in the required fields and click finish.
  17. A popup box should appear stating the activation was successful.
