How do I set up an Oregon State VPN on a Windows PC

Resolution

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to https://sds.oregonstate.edu
  2. Login using your ONIDusername and password.
  3. Click "Continue" on the "Information Services VPN Service" window that appears.
  4. Accept the Java applet's request to run.**
  5. Accept the request to install the Cisco AnyConnect client software on your computer.
    1. Troubleshooting TIP: If Java isn't enabled in your browser, the automatic installation can fail. If this occurs
    2. Manually install AnyConnect manually using the Windows Desktop link in the middle of the dialogue window.
    3. Accept Agreement to install.
    4. Administrative rights are needed to install.
    5. After application finishes installing, launch Cisco AnyConnect VPN.
    6. Enter in SDS.OREGONSTATE.EDU in the blank white-space and click connect.
    7. A box with Cisco AnyConnect | sds.oreognstate.edu will appear.
    8. Enter your ONIDusername and password and click OK.
    9. AnyConnect updates will be performed.
  6. A window will appear informing you that you are connected to the OSU network. An icon will also appear in the system tray when you successfully connect. You can right-click this icon and choose to disconnect or quit the VPN connection.
  7. To reconnect in the future, open the "Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client" from the Programs menu and connect to "sds.oregonstate.edu" and use your ONIDusername and password to re-establish a VPN connection.
