Accounts & Technologies Guide for New Students

The following guide outlines some of the services provided by Information Services to OSU students.

Accounts & Software

  • ONID account. The ONID account is the primary account used by both students and employees to access most OSU services. You will need to activate your ONID account before you can use it.
  • Software. Many software titles are available remotely via Citrix Apps or on campus in the OSU computer labs. Students can install some software on personal devices for free or with a licensing fee; see the site license software page. Students can also install Microsoft Office for free via Office365.

Technical Support

  • IS Service Desk. The IS Service Desk provides technical support to the OSU community via phone, email and in-person at Milne Computer Center room 201.

  • Learn@OregonState
  • Box. Box is unlimited cloud storage and collaboration for all OSU students and employees.
  • G Suite. ONID email for students is accessed via G Suite
  • Office 365. Office365 allows students and employees to download and install up to 5 free copies of Microsoft Office on personal devices and to collaborate online using native Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote).
  • OSU Mobile App. Check your grades, find places to eat and catch the bus with the OSU Mobile app.
  • MyOSU. MyOSU provides registration and degree progress tracking tools, the ability to manage your personal information, and access to your student records.
  • Campus Labs. Several campus labs are provided for drop-in access by all OSU students.
