Kaltura Editor - Add a hotspot to a video in Kaltura

Kaltura includes the ability to add hotspots (in-video links to either external web resources or other parts of the video) to your Kaltura media.

Resolution

Access the Editor

1. Visit My Media in either Canvas or MediaSpace
2. Click the pencil icon that corresponds to your video in order to edit that video's information
3. Click the Launch Editor button
   
4. Click the Hotspot icon in the side toolbar
   

Adding a Hotspot

1. In the timeline underneath your video, drag the handlebar to the point in the video where you first want your hotspot to appear
   • Alternate methods:
     • Play the video until you arrive at the point where you first want your hotspot to appear
     • Enter the specific time where you first want your hotspot to appear in the time code box underneath your video
2. Click the + Add Hotspot button then drag the hotspot to the location in the frame where you want it to appear
   • Alternate method:
     • Click in the frame where you want the hotspot to appear
3. Use the handles of the hotspot to resize it according to your preference
4. Add the text you want to appear in the hotspot box
5. In the "Link to" field, add the web address of the website to which you'd like to direct your viewers when the hotspot is clicked
   or
   In the "Time" field, enter the time of the video to which you'd like your viewers to skip when the hotspot is clicked
6. Advanced Settings include the following parameters:
   • STYLES
     • Text Color & Style: will allow you to select the color of the hotspot's text, as well as whether you want the text to be bold, thin, or normal style.
     • Text Size: will allow you to change the size of the text in the hotspot.
     • Roundness: will control how rounded the corners of the hotspot area will be.
     • Background color: will control the color of the hotspot's transparent background.
     • Position: will allow you to modify the location of your hotspot by ending values for the X and Y axis.
     • Size: will allow you to modify the size of your hotspot by entering values for height and width.
   • TIMELINE
     • Start Time: will allow you to adjust at what point in the video the hotspot will appear.
     • End Time: will allow you to adjust at what point in the video the hotspot will disappear.
7. Click Done when you're done creating your hotspot
8. Repeat the above steps to add additional hotspots
9. Click Save to save your changes
