Cause/Explanation

Your OSU Credentials are stored on the Oregon State University Network.  To access your computer, you will need to access the Oregon State University network to retrieve these credentials.

Resolution

First Time Login From Home

Note:  If you have logged in to your device at least once before while connected to the OSU Network, skip to step 6.

  1. Turn on your Windows Desktop/Laptop.
  2. Log in to your device using a local account.
    • For checkout or loaner computers, you should have received a sheet with the laptop that includes the local "OSUBeavers" account password.
    • For Community Network computers, login with the local administrator account.
    • If you do not have login information for a local account, you will need to contact the Service Desk to get login credentials.
  3. Connect to the Oregon State University VPN.  Instructions for this can be found here.
  4. Hold down shift and right click on the Chrome or Firefox shortcut on the desktop
  5. Select "Run as different user" and enter the credentials for the account you want to sign into the computer with
    • This saves your OSU Account information to your computer.
  6. Log out of your local account.
  7. Log in to the computer with your Oregon State University account.

After you have successfully logged into the computer at least once, you can continue to log into the device with your OSU account without following the above steps.
