Adobe Acrobat - Always Open PDFs with Acrobat

Issue/Question

  • When I open a PDF file on my computer, it does not open in Acrobat.
  • When I access PDFs in Chrome, I want them to open in Acrobat, not the Chrome PDF viewer.
  • When I export to PDF from Sunapsis, the data entries are blank.

Environment

  • Oregon State University
  • Acrobat Pro 2020
  • Windows

Explanation

After upgrading to Acrobat 2020, some customers reported that PDFs were opening in Google Chrome instead of Acrobat.

In Sunapsis, this issue can cause PDFs to be blank.

Resolution

Set Default App to Open PDFs

  1. Right-click on a PDF file on your computer
  2. Select "Open with" , then "Choose another app"
  3. Select Adobe Acrobat 2020
  4. Check the box to always use this app to open PDF files

  4. Under Privacy and Security, select Site Settings
  5. Select Additional Content Settings
  6. Select PDF documents
