- How do I check the version Tableau Server that is running?

Background
When you use a version of Tableau that is more advanced that the version running on the server there is a risk that certain features will not be supported on the server. If a new release contained a visualization feature that was not previously available this would not be supported on the server since the server is usually running on an older version of Tableau. This does not happen often though as most versions released by Tableau contain bug fixes and do not provide new visualization functionality.
Resolution
When logged into the Tableau Server, click on the information icon (?) in the upper right hand corner of the server window
The version of Tableau Server is listed in the About Tableau Server dialog box:
