Duo - "Invalid Certificate" or "Certificate Verification Failed"

Issue/Question

  • I am getting an "Invalid Certificate when sending a push to my phone", What should I do?
  • What does "Certificate verification failed" mean on the Duo app?

  • Employee/Student

Cause/Explanation

When the device is connected to a network which is not connected properly to the Internet, the Duo application on the phone encounters an error "Certification Invalid or Network issue."

Resolution

  1. Connect to OSU_Secure, eduroam or Visitor
  2. Close the Duo app and open it again
  3. Send the Duo push again and it will work.
