Available for OSU faculty, staff and students on institutional or up to 4 personally-owned devices or computers for use in education and non-commercial research.
Resolution
MathWorks Account Creation and accessing Install File
- Create a MathWorks login if you don't already have one here: https://www.mathworks.com/mwaccount/register
NOTE: Register with your onidusername@oregonstate.edu email address.
- Wait for the account activation email. This may take a few minutes.
- When the account activation email arrives, copy the activation key to your clipboard.
- Login to the MATLAB Portal: https://www.mathworks.com/academia/tah-portal/oregon-state-university-1065503.html
- Fill out the form and use the provided activation key.
- Once the account is created, you can download MATLAB for Windows, Mac, or Linux here: http://mathworks.com/downloads/web_downloads/select_release
MathWorks Renewal
Update Within MATLAB
- Open MATLAB.
- From the Home Tab, select help -> licensing -> update current license.
- Select the expired license and click update.
- This will download and activate a new license.
- Restart MATLAB.
Update Using "Activate MATLAB" Application
If the update license steps noted above don't work, the Activation App can be used.
Windows
- Search programs for "Activate MATLAB [Version installed]"
- Click next until prompted to login. Login with your Mathworks account.
- Select "Student - Named User" license (unless another license type is needed).
- Click next until the license is applied. Run MATLAB again and the license should be updated.
Mac
- Find the MATLAB.app in finder.
- Right click MATLAB.app and select "show package contents".
- This should show an Activate.app and Deactivate.app. Open Activate.app.
- Click next until prompted to login. Login with your Mathworks account.
- Select "Student - Named User" license (unless another license type is needed).
- Click next until the license is applied. Run MATLAB again and the license should be updated.
Windows
- Run the MATLAB setup.exe file.
- After it extracts the file, select "Log in with a MathWorks Account".
- Read and accept the license agreement and click next.
- Login with your [ONID Username]@oregonstate.edu account and click next.
- Select "Student - Named User" license (unless another license type is needed) and click next.
- Choose an install directory (usually fine to leave this at the default).
- Select any additional products to install and click next.
- Select the desired options on this page and click next.
- Review the install options and click install.
- Once finished, make sure "Activate MATLAB" is checked and click next.
- When asked to provide a user name, verify that the displayed user name is correct. Continue with the process until activation is complete.
MacOS
- Open the MATLAB.dmg.
- Double click on "InstallForMacOSX".
- Select "Log in with a MathWorks Account".
- Read and accept the license agreement and click next.
- Login with your [ONID Username]@oregonstate.edu account and click next.
- Select "Student - Named User" license (unless another license type is needed) and click next.
- Choose an install directory (usually fine to leave this at the default).
- Select any additional products to install and click next.
- Select the desired options on this page and click next.
- Review the install options and click install.
- Once finished, make sure "Activate MATLAB" is checked and click next.
- When asked to provide a user name, verify that the displayed user name is correct. Continue with the process until activation is complete.
