MacOS - Find MAC Address

Issue/Question

Explanation

The MAC address is a unique number associated with your device's network adapter. It is also called a Physical Address, Hardware Address, Ethernet ID or network adapter address on various systems. Your device's MAC address must be registered in order to receive network access on the OSU wired network.

Resolution

  1. Click the Apple (upper left corner).  Select System Preferences.
  2. Select the Network control panel.
  3. To find your wired network adapter address, select EthernetAdvancedHardware. Your MAC Address will be listed on the Hardware tab.

  4. To find your wireless network adapter address, select Wi-Fi and then Advanced. Your Wi-Fi MAC Address will be listed on the Wi-Fi page.
