Outlook on Windows - Setting Online Archive Policy

Resolution

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Find the Folder(s) you would like to archive.
  3. Right click on the folder you would like to have automatically archive.
    WARNING: Do not set an archive policy at the top of the mailbox (where it usually says First.Last@oregonstate.edu). Doing so can cause calendar events to be archived.
  4. Click Properties.
  5. Select the Policy tab.
  6. Click the drop down menu below Online Archive.
  7. Select the amount of time to keep emails in the folder. The 6 months option is frequently used.
  8. Click OK
  9. Repeat steps 2-8 for any additional folders you would like to have archived.
