Note: Regarding MIME EECS Remote Desktop: Engineering users must set up a TEACH account before they can access the MIME desktop in Citrix. If the customer is experiencing difficulty with "MIME EECS Remote Desktop," but not with other virtual desktops or apps, then the issue should be escalated to the College of Engineering.
The process for troubleshooting Linux won't look exactly the same but you should still be able to remove and add accounts.
