Issue/Question
- How do I install Acrobat 2020 on a Windows computer?
Environment
- Oregon State University
- Acrobat 2020
- Windows
Resolution
Method 1: Install via Software Center
This method will only work on computers supported by Community Network.
The computer must be on the OSU network or connected to the VPN.
- Pause Updates
- Press the Windows key and type in: Check for Updates
- Select the option to "Pause Updates for 7 days"
- Close all programs
- Open Task Manager, right-click and select "End task" on all running programs
- Or: right-click on each running app at the bottom of the screen and select "Exit"
- If the computer is off the OSU network, connect to the VPN first
- Press the Windows key and type in: Software Center
- In the "Available Software" section, select Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020
- Select Install in the lower-right corner
- If the process fails, click "retry" at least 3 times (after the process fails again)
- If the process still fails, try restarting your computer and retrying installation.
- Once install completes and you are able to open PDF files, turn updates back on:
- Press the Windows key and type in: Check for Updates
- Select the option to "Resume Updates"
Note: If your computer does not have Acrobat 2017, you will need to manually uninstall your version of Acrobat before you can install the latest version from Software Center. If you have Acrobat 2017, you do not need to uninstall first. If you don't have administrative access to uninstall older versions of Acrobat, please contact the Service Desk for assistance.
