Issue/Question
- How do I access my home folder?
- How do I access my personal network drive?
Environment
- Oregon State University
- Student, Employee, Associate
Explanation
Depending on what department you take classes from or work for you may have access to different network folders.
Resolution
ONID
All ONID accounts have a "home folder" that is automatically mapped to the Z: drive when you login to a Campus Labs computer or Citrix Apps. For more information, see: https://oregonstate.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1935/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=45671
College of Engineering
Students and employees with the College of Engineering have access to personal file space on Engineering servers. Often this will me mapped to the Z: drive. For more information, see: https://it.engineering.oregonstate.edu/accessing-engineering-file-space
Cosine
Employees and graduate students in Cosine-supported departments will typically (but not always) have a home folder on Cosine servers. This is usually mapped to the T: drive. For more information, see: https://cosine.oregonstate.edu/faqs
Many new employees do not have a P: drive assigned. Use of cloud storage (such as OneDrive or Box) is recommended.
Community Network (CN)
Employees (including student employees) and some graduate students in CN-supported departments will typically (but not always) have a home folder on the CN-Home server. Some CN-supported departments will have home folders on a SIG share. CN Home folders are usually mapped to the P: drive. On Windows computers, the drive mappings are automatic based on the location of the person's account in our Active Directory. If there are issues with automatic mapping, the person's account may need to be moved.
Employees with OSU-Cascades do not have CN P: drives.
Many new employees do not have a P: drive assigned. Use of cloud storage (such as OneDrive or Box) is recommended.
