Issue/Question

  • I received a notice that ONID MySQL service is being retired. What do I need to do?

Environment

  • Oregon State University
  • ONID
  • MySQL Databases

Explanation

What is happening?

The ONID MySQL Database service will be retired Friday, April 28 at 5 p.m. Our records indicate you may have a database hosted on this service.

Why is this happening?

ONID MySQL is a legacy service that will no longer be offered as a centrally managed service. Retiring this service supports OSU IT’s efforts to adapt to the changing needs of our community. For database services like MySQL, your local IT unit will be able to support any continuing service needs.

Resolution

If you no longer require your MySQL database, please delete it by going to onid.oregonstate.edu and selecting "Manage My ONID" to log in. Once logged in, choose Web Database from the left menu, and click Delete Database. If no action is taken, your database will be exported to your ONID home directory on Friday, April 28. Please follow the instructions to access your ONID home directory to access your database after Friday, April 28th.
