Zoom - Headset Problems Joining Meeting via Web

Issue/Question

  • When I join a Zoom meeting via the web, my computer headset is not working. The audio is coming from my computer speakers instead.

Environment

  • Oregon State University
  • Zoom meeting
  • Web client

Resolution

Method 1 - Specify Headset when Joining Meeting

  1. When you click a link to join a Zoom meeting, Zoom Meetings will launch and prompt you for audio options: 
  2. Select "Test speaker and microphone"
  3. Next to "Speaker 1" select your headset 
  4. If you hear the test tone through your headset, select "Yes"
  5. Test the microphone on your headset by speaking into it and listening for the replay; select "Yes" when ready 
  6. Select "Join with Computer Audio" when done testing.

Method 2 - Set Audio While in Meeting

  1. While in a Zoom meeting, click on the up-arrow next to the microphone icon in the lower-left corner 
  2. Select your headset -OR- select "Test Speaker & Microphone" to test and select the correct audio options
