Overview

Kaltura is Oregon State University's video platform. Kaltura includes the ability to add slides into your video content as chapters. A slide will appear as a picture-in-picture in a corner of the video until a subsequent slide is loaded or the viewer dismisses the image.

Resolution

Method 1 - Uploading an Entire Slide Deck

  1. Visit My Media in either Canvas or MediaSpace
  2. Click the Edit button for the desired media
  3. Click the Timeline tab
  4. Select the down arrow beneath the Slide button (the button that resembles a sheet of paper with the corner folded)
  5. Choose Upload Full Deck
  6. Click the upload icon to select your slide deck
  7. Select the resolution of your slide, either Normal Resolution of Wide Resolution
  8. Click on "Choose a file to upload" or drag your slide deck into the Drag & Drop box
  9. Click on "Back to Timeline"
  10. Once Kaltura is done importing your slide deck, you will find that your slides are spaced evenly across your video recording
    1. To move a slide, click and drag it to its desired location and click Save

Method 2 - Uploading a Single Slide

  1. Visit My Media in either Canvas or MediaSpace
  2. Click the Edit button for the desired media
  3. Click the Timeline tab
  4. Add a bookmark using one of the following methods:
    • Move the blue bookmark indicator to the point in the media where you want to add a cue point
    • Play the media to the point where you want your cue point to appear, then pause the video and slide the blue bookmark indicator to this point
  5. Select the down arrow beneath the Slide button (the button that resembles a sheet of paper with the corner folded)
  6. Choose Upload Single Slide
  7. Click the upload icon to select your slide image
  8. Click on "Choose a file to upload"
  9. Select your slide image and click Save
  10. (optional) Add a slide title and description; this text will be searchable in your video
  11. Click Save
