ONID - Update Your Alternate Contact Info

Why Provide Alternate Contact Information?

Alternate contact information on your ONID account is used to recover your account when you lose or forget your password.

When you're unable to login to your ONID account because you've lost or forgotten your password, you can receive a password reset PIN via email or SMS text message when you have an alternate email and/or phone number set on your account.

The Service Desk may also use your alternate contact information to get a hold of you in cases when you're unable to log in to your ONID account.

How to Set Alternate Contact Information

  1. In a web browser, visit onid.oregonstate.edu.
  2. Click the Login to ONID link on the left side of the page.
  3. Enter your ONID username and password, and click Login.
    • If prompted, use the Duo mobile app or your hardware token to complete Duo authentication.
  4. Click the Alternate Contact Info link on the left side of the page.
  5. Fill out or update the form fields as necessary with your contact information.
    • NOTE: You cannot use your ONID email to recover your ONID account. You must specify an email address not associated with OSU.
  6. When finished, click the Submit button.
