Guide: New Employee Checklist

Resolution

Someone from the new employee's department (usually the office manager or supervisor, but it can be anyone) should fill out the following request forms before the person starts working. Note that UIT does not receive automatic notifications of new hires, and depends on the hiring department to provide that information.

In addition, the new hire will need to do the following things:

  1. Finish the demographic form that is part of the new hire paperwork. Once this is completed and entered into Banner, an OSU ID is issued and an ONID account is created.
  2. Activate their ONID account.
  3. Update their preferred name, if applicable.
  4. Set up voice mail greetings.
  5. Work with IT to sign in to their new computer and Outlook email profile.
  6. Complete mandatory employee trainings at: https://training.oregonstate.edu/
