Explanation

What is CORE?

The Cooperative Open Reporting Environment (CORE) is OSU's central library of official university reports and dashboards used in standardized OSU operations. All OSU employees have access to CORE reports and dashboards based on their position and employee classification. Users must authenticate in using their university credentials to view the CORE library of reports and dashboards.

You can access CORE at core.oregonstate.edu. The supported browsers for CORE are Firefox and Chrome. Using other browsers may result in unusual behavior in CORE.

What data is in CORE?

CORE contains data from a wide range of sources at operational sources at OSU:

  • Banner Student
  • Banner Finance
  • Banner HR
  • Banner Payroll
  • Census data prepared by the Office of Institutional Research (IR)
  • Atrium swipe card data
  • And other specialized sources

How can I find data in CORE?

In CORE, there are many reports that may meet your needs. Use the Search Box to look for key words relevant to your report or look through the uReports tab at the top of the CORE page to see a list of reports you have access to.

How can I use data in CORE?

You may use the data in CORE to complete responsibilities that are with the scope of your position. You may not utilize information for a task that is not within the direct scope of your responsibilities without the prior approval of the appropriate data steward. This policy relates to all OSU-specific information, including:

  • student data
  • employee data
  • financial data
  • and any other operational data collected by the University

Non-OSU employees may receive access to data as defined in an MOU between their institution and the appropriate OSU Data steward.

If you do not have access to data you need to complete your position responsibilities you can submit an override request using the Override Request Form at: https://iar.oregonstate.edu/gethelp/security

Where can I receive training on CORE?

Online trainings for CORE are available at: https://iar.oregonstate.edu/training.
