Explanation
Why provide account recovery information?
Account recovery information on your ONID account is used to recover your account when you lose or forget your password.
When you're unable to login to your ONID account because you've lost or forgotten your password, you can receive a password reset PIN via email or SMS text message when you have account recovery email and/or phone number set on your account.
The Service Desk may also use your account recovery information to get a hold of you in cases when you're unable to log in to your ONID account.
Resolution
How to setup Account Recovery information:
- Go to https://onid.oregonstate.edu
- Click on "Manage my ONID"
- Enter your ONID username and password, and click "Login"
- If prompted, use the Duo mobile app or your security key to complete Duo login.
- Click on "Alternate Contact Info" on the left side of the page.
- Fill out or update the form fields as necessary with your contact information.
- NOTE: You cannot use an OSU issued email address to recover your ONID account. You must specify an email address not associated with OSU.
- When finished, click the "Submit" button.
