ONID deactivation process

Issues/Questions

  • Why did I receive a deactivation notice?
  • What is going to happen?
  • What do I need to do?
  • I'm still an employee or student. This shouldn't be happening.

Why did I receive a deactivation notice?

You received a deactivation warning message because you are no longer eligible for an ONID account.  Details on eligibility requirements for ONID accounts can be found in ONID - Account Eligibility and Duration

What is going to happen?

Your ONID account will be deactivated on the date in the email you received.  When your account is deactivated, you will no longer be able to login to any OSU services with your ONID account.  You will not be able to access any of OSU's services, such as Google, Office365, Email, Canvas, and My Oregon State.  Email sent to your email address will bounce back to the sender.

After a short period of deactivation, your account and the data stored with it will be deleted.  When your account is deleted, all of the data in OSU's services such as Box, Office365, and Google will be deleted.  You cannot recover this data after it is deleted.  Official university records such as employment history and student transcripts are not impacted by this process.

What do I need to do?

Start acting now to backup your data before your account is deactivated.  Instructions on how to backup your data can be found in ONID - Save Your Data Before Leaving OSU

I'm still an employee or student. This shouldn't be happening.

Students

Your account is on the deactivation list because you are no longer eligible to register for courses based on information received from the Office of the Registrar.  If you feel that your student status is incorrect, please contact the Office of the Registrar at registrars@oregonstate.edu or (541) 737-4331.  If your student status is updated by the Office of the Registrar prior to your deactivation date, your account will automatically be removed from the deactivation list.

Employees

Your account is on the deactivation list because Human Resources has listed an end date for your employment.  If you feel that this status is not correct, please contact your supervisor and/or your Human Resources representative.  Contact information for Human Resources can be found on their website.

Associates & Sponsored Accounts

Your account is on the deactivation list because your account was not renewed.  If you have questions about this, please contact your supervisor, sponsor, or associate verifier for more information.
