Duo - Sign-Up with a Mobile Device

Duo Setup Walkthrough

  1. Go to duo.oregonstate.edu
     
  2. Click "Sign up for Duo."

     
  3. You will be directed to the OSU sign-in page. Sign in with your ONID account.
     
  4. Click on "Sign-Up with a Mobile Device."

     
  5. Follow the instructions on-screen. If this is your first time signing up for Duo, click the green button that says, "Start Setup."

     
  6. If you do not have the Duo Mobile app installed, download it from your mobile phone's app store and open it. (The AppStore for iPhones, Google's Play Store for Android phones.)
    If you have installed the Duo Mobile app already, skip to Step 9.

     
  7. Once the app is downloaded, open it. There will be a blank page that looks like the image shown below.

     
  8. Go back to the Duo setup page you were at in Step 6.
     
  9. Click on "I have Duo Mobile."
     
  10. Continue to follow the instructions on-screen. You may be asked to allow Duo to use your camera. If so, allow Duo to use your camera. This is so the Duo Mobile app can scan a QR code.
     
  11. Click on "Take me to Duo Mobile." Approve the pop-up if one shows up.
     
  12. "Oregon State University" should automatically add itself to your Duo application. Go back to the Duo web page.

     
  13. Click on "Continue."
  14. Choose if you want Duo to automatically send you pushes or not, then click "Continue to Login."

     
  15. The following screen should display. Important: you must click "Send Me a Push" or "Enter a Passcode" on this screen to complete the device activation.  You are not done registering until you see the "Sign up is complete" message

     
  16. After completing the login with Duo, the webpage will update to indicate that sign up is complete.

Troubleshooting

Duo freezes when scanning the QR Code

After you scan the QR code with the Duo Mobile app on your phone, you will see a check mark on the QR code on your screen. If the Duo Mobile app freezes, cancel the scan. Then use your computer to do the Duo push to complete setup.
