ONID - How to Change Your Password

Question

Environment

  • Oregon State University
  • Student, Employee or Associate

Resolution

Known Password

  1. Go to http://onid.oregonstate.edu/
  2. Click on "Change my Password"

  1. Login with your current ONID username and password
    • You will need to perform a Duo Authentication on the next page, if you are correctly enrolled
  2. Click "Change Password" in the left hand column
  3. Follow the steps to change your password

Expired Password

  1. Go to http://onid.oregonstate.edu/
  2. Click on "Change my password"

  1. Login with your ONID username and use the expired password
    • You will need to perform a Duo Authentication on the next page, if you are correctly enrolled
  2. If the password was correct, you will be prompted to change your expired password
  3. If this does not work, proceed with the steps under "Forgotten Password"

Forgotten Password

  1.  Go to http://onid.oregonstate.edu/
  2. Click on "Recover my account"

  1. Fill in the corresponding information in the "Identify Yourself:" box

  1. You will be prompted to send a password reset PIN to your alternate contact email and/or phone
    1. If your alternate contact info is correct, click the button to "Send Password Reset PIN"
    2. If your alternate contact info is missing or incorrect, you will need to call to request a password reset PIN
      1. Students: contact the Registrar's Office at 541-737-4331
      2. All others: contact the Service Desk at 541-737-8787
  2. When you receive the reset PIN via your alternate contact (or by calling in for assistance), enter the PIN in the empty box on the screen and click "Submit" Example PIN entered next to Submit button.
  3. When prompted, enter your new password twice and click "Set Password"
    • Refer to the restrictions listed on-screen
  4. When successful, you will see the message "Your password has been successfully changed."

 

Former Student or Former Employee

After you leave OSU, your ONID account is deactivated. Once deactivated, you can no longer change your password.
